Self Critique
DESCRIPTION:
I see a boy, my cousin, about the age of 5. He has very crystal-like eyes that shine and gleam, they stand out because they're so big. He seems to be playing with some toy soldiers, he has lined them up and stood them upright. His facial expression is dull, showing no emotion at all. It almost seems like he's curious about the idea of a picture.
REFLECTION:
This would seems like a picture taken from the 50's and it's because the boy seems to be curious about the picture taking mabobber.
FORMAL ELEMENTS:
There's emphasis on the boys eyes, the window light provides a nice split face and helps emphasize the face. There's also some variety with the toy soldiers providing different hues, color, and texture from the boys skin.

DESCRIPTION:
I see the same boy from above holding something in his hands. It's a coloring book that he got through the mail. I know this because he's holding a priority mail box. His eyes seem distant, and his facial expression is sad and mournful.
REFLECTION:
His expression seems like he doesn't know how to react to the delivery he's gotten.
FORMAL ELEMENTS:
The dark color behind him is creating unity between the front part of the photo. There seems to be some pattern off to the right on the couch?

DESCRIPTION:
He's in a different position, now he's sitting upright. He has one leg forward meanwhile the other one is tucked below him. There's split face provided by the window again, and now it's emphasizing the whole face.
REFLECTION:
Now it seems like he doesn't care for the picture at all, he has an expressionless face again but now it looks too dull.
FORMAL ELEMENTS:
I see emphasis on the face and sluggish posture. You can see the texture of the carpet and it looks a bit like pebbles, or dirt. The proportion of his whole body to the background also helps emphasis.

DESCRIPTION:
I see my grandmother, she has a lot of small creases on her face. Which probably means she's old. The random light in the background helps understand that she's indoors. She also has split light and it works well.
REFLECTION:
She seems to be getting ready to cook and make food for us, since she's in her kitchen.
FORMAL ELEMENTS:
The balance of the lighting is creating unity, since one side is dark and the other lightened by the door light.

DESCRIPTION:
It's my dog sitting on a chair. The lighting above only looked like split lighting because I had to hold my hand to the side creating split. He has very big eyes, and a hunched kind of body shape.
REFLECTION:
It seems like he's scared because of his wide eyes. It also seems like he's trying to get some affection, or like he's a well-behaved little boy.
FORMAL ELEMENTS:
There's unity between his right side of his face and the left side too. There's color emphasis on the big brown eyes and black nose.
