ISO Test Image #1
Exploring ISO Settings
1. What are the three parts of the exposure triangle?
The three parts are lens aperture, shutter speed and ISO.
2. How much more exposure is there as you change from one ISO setting to the next?
The exposure doesn't grow too rapidly it just doubles (or halves) itself.
3. What is the main drawback to changing the ISO from low to high?
The main drawback is that you’re simply amplifying the light values it’s managed to capture.
4. What are a few ways to reduce the appearance of noise in the photo?
a. Strong light
b. ISO at lowest
c. The pic will come out with little to no noise
5. What is the difference between Chromatic and Luminance noise?
Chromatic noise is colored and looks like the rainbow-like sheen when looking at a patch of oil.
Luminance noise is caused by random variations in brightness between pixels and it’s harder to deal with because noise reduction processes can’t readily distinguish noise from real detail.
6. What are a couple of example of when and why you might want to increase the ISO of the camera?
a. At night
b. Snapshots after dark
c. Low light sport
